To date, around £2.3million has been raised from our generous community of Kingswood supporters – details of what this has enabled are provided below.
You can donate online by using the red 'Donate now' button further down this page.
Since the 275th Anniversary campaign started in 2019, 10 transformational bursaries have been awarded to enable pupils to join Kingswood School. Eight of these students are Sixth Formers who have already completed or are completing their A Levels this summer, and we have seen them depart to higher education options ranging from computer science degrees, law apprenticeships and medicine. During their time with us, the recipients of our bursaries have taken lead roles in the Eco-Alliance, and also on the PR as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion reps or as house prefects.
Thanks to the supported generously given, we've been able to make two further such offers for the new academic year starting this September, with funding also in place for future offers in the Sixth Form for 2025 and beyond. We know that the friendships made, the teaching received and the experiences enjoyed here are all truly transformational for our pupils.
The Dixon has played a central role in the Sixth Form experience at Kingswood since the 1960s, providing a base for the year group, classrooms and the small group studies that are a unique element to our Sixth Form offering.
Following a student design project, an extensive refurbishment of the Dixon will take place over the Summer break. This work will extend our changing rooms, our classroom and office provision, as well as provide for beautiful, modern and light studies and kitchenettes for our Sixth Form.
More than half of the cost of this exciting project has been funded by donations given to the 275 Campaign.
During the campaign, around £350,000 was given in support of our plans to establish a cookery school at Kingswood. With the Dixon project now underway, we are turning our attention to this exciting initiative which will ensure that every Kingswood pupil leaves us armed with essential food knowledge and cooking skills for life.
The space will offer a combination of academic enrichment and co-curricular cookery to students during term, as well as courses for parents and the wider public during evenings, weekends and school holidays.
This means the facility will also generate commercial income which will be used to fund additional bursaries and further support the financial resilience of Kingswood. Although the sum raised so far is someway off the target required to realise our vision, the level of support received so far from a number of partners has been encouraging and we are considering alternative funding models to bring this vision to life.
