Over the summer, we were delighted to hear from Old Kingswoodian Mako Higashino (2023-2025), now studying at the University of Edinburgh.
She writes, “I am writing this email in Tanzania - to say that I made it to the summit of Mont Kilimanjaro!!
Every view and moment spent with my teammates, local porters, chiefs and guides was memorable, lending their kindness and generous attitudes to all people at all the time.”
When asked if we could share her picture in the newsletter, she continued, “I am happy to let my friends and teachers know that I am continuing challenging new things! I will keep on learning more from the people around me, to give something back to them some day through my efforts and smiles.”
Mako joined Kingswood through the generosity of Old Kingswoodian, Mr Tadayoshi Tazaki (1962-1964), whose charitable foundation funds tuition and living expenses for Japanese students to study in independent schools in the UK. We are incredibly proud of this partnership and enjoy seeing the successes our Tazaki schoars, like Mako, go on to achieve. They are a genuine embodiment of Mr Tazaki’s vision to create global citizens, with broad perspectives, empathy and resilience.
