Kingswood Old Kingswoodian Event – Bangkok, Friday 26th September
It was a privilege to attend the Kingswood Old Kingswoodian Event in Bangkok on Friday 26th September, held at the elegant Hansar Hotel. The evening was filled with warmth, laughter, and fond memories as we gathered with former Kingswood students, all smiling and eager to share stories of the adventures and achievements they have enjoyed since leaving school.
We were delighted to welcome not only our alumni but also parents of these families, including the current parents of Year 9 boarder Yaimai, whose continued connection to Kingswood is so greatly valued. A particularly special moment came when we were able to send a recorded message to Joni from her former Housemistress, Miss Paver,a gesture that was warmly received.
On a personal note, it was fantastic to catch up with five former Hall House boys: Indy (2017), Korn (2019), Play (2019), Pos (2021), and Dell (2024). Their enthusiasm and affection for Kingswood was truly heartening. It was also great to have former Head of Mathematics and Assistant Head of Middle House, Chris Redman with us. He is currently teaching in Shrewsbury School, Bangkok having left us in 2015.
The highlight of the evening was hearing captivating tales from Satit Manomaiudom (Class of 1970) who was one of the very first Thai students to board at Kingswood. His reflections on school life in years gone by were both inspiring and deeply moving, reminding us of the lasting bonds and shared spirit that connect all members of the Kingswood community, wherever they may be in the world.
It was truly heart-warming for Hannah Drew and I to share the evening with them all and to witness first-hand the strength of the Kingswood family across generations and continents.
Mr Darrell Harding
Head of Boarding
