Finally, after many years of very hard work – on and off; mostly off – I have managed to publish my book. It's called The Circular Book of All That Is, and it really is about everything! I started writing it in the early 1990s, but it was only about a year ago, due to the pandemic, after losing about 40% of my income and gaining quite a lot of “free” time, that my priorities changed to a degree great enough for me to return to it. In the first throes of having finished the writing of it all those years ago, I got quite close to finding a literary agent, but, in the end, after not succeeding on that front, it started gathering dust in the proverbial drawer. And it was only in the last year or so (and thanks to the advent of the Internet and all its potential), that a friend of mine drew my attention to the possibility of self-publishing. So, advancement in technology + pandemic = publication! People (rightly) ask me what kind of book it is, and I (rightly) reply, “Er…. well… er… er… It's kind of a mélange of poetry, philosophy and fiction.” To which they reply, “My god, it sounds AMAZING; I must rush out and buy a hundred copies!” OK, no one has said that to me yet, but I'm still hoping. Perhaps you will be the first! It is available on Amazon, but, as I have now discovered as a seller, Amazon are incredibly greedy and take all the profit, leaving me with less than a dollar per copy. The printer, Lulu, on the other hand, is far more generous, so when you order your hundred copies, I would be grateful if you would order them directly from Lulu. The hardback is already out, and the (less expensive) paperback will probably also be available by the time you read this. An eBook is in the works as well, as soon as I can figure out how to format it properly (nightmare!). If everybody in the world were to read this book, all our human problems would instantly be solved and everything would be hunky dory and copacetic, and we'd probably all live forever and death would be vanquished. And there'd probably be no more taxes. At least, that's what I like to think. I'm pretty sure it's true. If you read it, maybe we'll find out! Here is the URL to my book on the Lulu shop:
And, while we're at it, you can find details of a book of poetry I translated from Japanese to English a few years back here:
