We are delighted that over the last year, the School has been in a position to overhaul the pipe organ situated in the gallery of Kingswood’s Chapel. Clevedon Organs were engaged to undertake significant works to the organ, which was originally a Copley installation. Over the summer, the organ was stripped out, fully cleaned and repaired and carefully restored in place ready for the start of this term. The difference in the sound is overwhelming and the instrument is now wonderfully colourful and vibrant. To celebrate the reinstallation, we are very pleased to announce that Huw Williams – Director of Music at Bath Abbey – will be giving a short recital on the Chapel organ on Wednesday 9th November, beginning at 7pm for around 50 mins. This is a magnificent and rare chance to hear Huw play, and to experience the organ as a solo instrument. Huw has crafted an exciting and varied programme, including music by Bach, Mozart, Vaughan Williams and Elgar. It will be helpful if you can email Ms Smith (HSmith@Kingswood.bath.sch.uk) if you intend to come so that we can keep track of numbers. Refreshments will be served after the concert in the Association Cafe.
