Netball
It was a successful week for the Netball Club last week with some strong score lines. Last Thursday, all four Senior teams won against Monkton and all shooters were on fine form. A highlight was the 4th team who won 23-7 and in which Charlie and Jasmine had strong games, linking well with both defence and attack. Player of the match goes to Tobina for her brilliant speed around the court and excellent interceptions.
Last Saturday, against Colston’s, the 1sts, 2nds, and 3rds all had their second wins of the week. Pick of the players were Bella, Jess, and Sophie. The U13Cs continue their unbeaten streak and the U15Bs nearly doubled Colston’s score line.
The U12s and U14s played their House Matches in good spirits. In the 12s, Phoenix A and B team won both their matches 20-6 and 8-6. Well done to Charlie, Gracie, Emily and Phia who were influential. In the U14s, School House beat Summerhill and came from behind to beat Fonthill. Well done to School House who were overall winners - Connie, Hannah, and Avantika all contributed well.
The U12As are Team of the week for their outstanding performance at the KES tournament. They beat KES 5-4, The Royal High 9-1, Prior Park 5-0, and Monkton 8-2. Livvy, Rosie, and Ameliecontrolled the midcourt effortlessly. Thea, Amelie and Sophie turned the ball over repeatedly and Esme and Esme shot like circle pros! It was a fantastic team performance!
Hockey
There were some excellent boys’ hockey fixtures as 9 of the 12 matches against Dauntsey’s were decided by a single goal. Will scored twice for the 2nds as they won 2-1 and Basti Langkilde got the only goal for the U16s. The 15As continued their impressive season with a 2-1 victory in which Oscar claimed the Player of the Match award, a feat matched by his brother Seb in the U13Bs. And the U13As put in their best performance so far with a 4-0 win.
Team of the week is shared between the U12As and the 1st XI. Both managed wins last Saturday to go with midweek cup success. The 1st XI produced their best hockey of the season to win 7-1 against a good King’s Gloucester team. Amongst a string of good performances, Jim did well to take the Player of the Match award. Magdalen College School, Oxford await in the next round. The Dauntsey’s match was much more tightly contested as Freddie's impressive display helped Kingswood to a 2-1 win.
The U12As won 3-0 last Saturday with Sam Milborrow on top form, a day after they claimed the County title. The Kingswood boys took some time to get into their stride but, after a narrow win against Beechen Cliff and a draw against Clifton College, the boys topped their group to set up a semi-final clash with Monkton Combe. It was in the knockout stages that the boys really found their attacking game as they won 3-0 to go through to the final against Bristol Grammar. After going a goal down early, they then scored four in just over 5 minutes before half-time to take a 4-1 lead that they never surrendered. They now progress to the Regional Finals in March.
